Tonight the Man and I watched Spielberg’s film adaptation of Dick’s The Minority Report, which I have not read. It’s a well made movie, but there was something about it that made me think of American science fiction or the 60s and 70s — the themes of dystopia masquerading as utopia, of the persecution of the hero/antihero, of the erasure of the individual and the supremacy of individual choice.
Put me in mind to watch Blade Runner, which, despite starring the immortal Harrison, I’ve never seen straight through.
Also reminded me of The Fifth Element, which is surely rips off elements (npi*) of a similar idea.
